Traditional Chinese Medicine: TCM (acupuncture,
herbology, qigong, nutrition, and Chinese massage) comprises a
system of healthcare which originates in China more than 5000 years
ago and has been offered in the United States for more than 150
years. TCM is a comprehensive system for the assessment and
treatment of acute and chronic disorders, as well as a preventive
health care maintenance regime. Chinese Medicine represents a
combination of ideas and methods from earlier times coupled with
findings from modern research methods which use chemical analysis,
pharmacological tests in the laboratory, and clinical
trials.

The practitioner of Chinese Medicine directs her
attention to the complete physiological and psychological aspects of
the individual. All relevant information, including the system as
well as the patient's other characteristics, is gathered and woven
together until it forms what Chinese Medicine calls a pattern of
disharmony. This pattern of disharmony describes a situation of
imbalance in a patient's body. The therapy attempts to bring the
patient into balance, and to restore harmony to the individual. This
is done by inserting fine, hair like, disposable, sterile, one-time
use needles and/or applying heat or electrical stimulation at very
precise acupuncture points and the use of herbal prescriptions,
nutritional and lifestyle advice, and qigong exercises.
